FLASHBACK: Nathan Beer and Charmaine Burrows came from Wondai to add a splash of colour to last year’s Christmas Race Meeting at Nanango, but this year the event has had to be cancelled due to record-breaking November rainfall

December 2, 2021

Nanango’s Christmas race meeting planned for this Saturday, December 4, has been cancelled.

Nanango Race Club president Andrew Green announced the decision on Thursday morning.

Andrew said the club’s Lee Park track had received about 400mm of rain over the past week, rendering the course too unsafe for racing.

He said the club decided to cancel the meeting with “great regret”.

However, they wanted to announce it as early as possible to give patrons who had planned to hold Christmas functions at the meeting time to find an alternative venue.

The race club’s next scheduled meeting is in February.

However, Racinq Queensland said it would liaise with Nanango regarding future options for a replacement race meeting.

Goondiwindi’s planned race meeting on Saturday has also been cancelled.
