A heavy rainstorm couldn’t stop the Goomeri & District Show Society from honouring five new Life Members in a special ceremony on Thursday night.
Life Membership, which recognises meritorious service, was awarded to Phyllis Hopf, Rodney Euler, Pam Euler, Roy Dennien and Janelle Dennien during a break in the Show Society’s November meeting in the Pam Brunjes Pavilion.
Unfortunately Roy and Janelle were unable to attend.
It is the second honour that Phyllis had received recently after the main oval at Goomeri Showgrounds was renamed the “Phyllis Hopf Arena”.
Show Society secretary Mikael Sayers said the freshly made scones and tarts were very welcome on the night, as were the warm cups of tea.
