A training day has been scheduled next month as the first step in getting the South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team back on to the paddock in 2022.
The Thrashers formerly competed in the Darling Downs B Grade competition but their last appearance was in 2014.
Spokesperson Jamie Shirlaw told southburnett.com.au the club was currently recruiting players.
Their first training session will be held from 5:30pm on November 3 at Wondai Sportsground (the rugby league grounds).
This will be followed by a special session at the same location on November 25, which will also feature a visit by some staff members and players from the Queensland Reds.
The three players currently locked in are Liam Wright, Kalani Thomas and Lawson Creighton plus two former Reds, Garrick Morgan and Sean Hardman.
This visit is part of the third annual “Reds To Region” tour by the Queensland pre-season squad.
The squad is splitting into 14 groups to visit 33 regional centres between November 24-26.
Visits to Cherbourg, Kingaroy, Nanango and local schools have also been pencilled in as part of this tour.
