The Class of 2021 … St Mary’s Catholic College students pose on the steps of Kingaroy Town Hall ahead of their valedictory dinner

September 20, 2021

A red carpet awaited St Mary’s Catholic College Year 12 students when they rolled up to their glittering formal in Kingaroy last week.

Thoughts of upcoming exams – and future career plans – were pushed aside for a night of glitz at Kingaroy Town Hall.

The students glammed up for the occasion, with stunning dresses, handsome suits and even a couple of cowboy hats on show.

They arrived in the usual spread of unusual conveyances, although there were no semi-trailers or horse-drawn carriages this year!

The vehicles included some vintage saloons, hot Fords (including a 1976 Mercury); and some of General Motors’ finest (including a menacing black Camaro).

The dinner was also an opportunity for the students to farewell local Catholic priest, Fr Chukwudi Chinaka, who will be leaving Kingaroy at the end of the year.

St Mary’s parish priest Fr Chukwudi Chinaka couldn’t miss out on the school’s big night … this will be Fr Chukwudi’s last Kingaroy formal with St Mary’s Catholic College as he is transferring to a parish in Nigeria at the end of the year

Footwear ranged from high heels to … soccer boots

This little fellow also hitched a ride on a 1928 Chrysler
Former P&F president Damien Martoo and St Mary’s teacher Jess Welch kept the patter going on the microphone … Damien also livestreamed the arrivals on Facebook
