A farmer in the Kilkivan area used his mobile phone to call for help after he was injured falling from a horse during a mustering accident on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the private property at 10:38am.

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was able to land nearby.

A LifeFlight spokesperson said it was believed the man had been mustering when his horse was spooked and threw him.

The man was alone when the incident occurred but fortunately had a signal on his phone so he could summon help.

A QAS Flight Paramedic on board the helicopter worked with other QAS paramedics at the scene to treat the man for a suspected spinal injury.

The man, aged in his 60s, was then airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
