The South Burnett and Cherbourg councils recently conducted a joint clean-up of illegally dumped rubbish as part of a project funded by the State Government.

The clean-up, on July 15, could lead to fines for the people who illegally dumped the various items, which included furniture, mattresses and chipboard.

An SBRC spokesperson said investigations would be undertaken to identify and fine the offenders.

The Local Government Illegal Dumping Partnerships Program is a collaborative project between the North Burnett, South Burnett and Cherbourg councils.

The spokesperson urged residents to report illegal dumping by phoning the SBRC’s Compliance Officer on 1300-789-279.
