A community awareness event will be held at Cherbourg Hospital later this month to raise awareness about liver health.
Darling Downs Health says the event will be an opportunity for people to learn more about their livers, the job they do and how to keep healthy.
“We will provide the community with information and the opportunity to talk to our staff about liver health, conditions such as hepatitis and treatments available,” Cherbourg Health Service’s Janette Goeman said.
“Hepatitis is an inflammatory condition of the liver and can be caused by a range of issues including viruses, excessive alcohol consumption, contact with chemical toxins or other conditions.
“It can be a lifelong issue but there are things people can do, including a number of improved treatments, to stay healthy even if they have hepatitis.”
The event coincides with World Hepatitis Day.
The “Love Your Liver, Love Your Life” community event will be held on Friday, July 30, from 10:30am to 2:00pm in the Cherbourg Hospital grounds and will include a barbecue.
