A “missing link” on one of Benarkin’s key connector roads is getting a long-overdue makeover from the South Burnett Regional Council.

Williams Road connects Benarkin to Benarkin North, and most of its 6km length has a single-lane seal.

However, an 800 metre unsealed section has been a constant source of headaches for local drivers and Council road crews.

It stretches up a hill and can quickly become corrugated after heavy rain.

On Wednesday, Deputy Mayor Gavin Jones confirmed this section of Williams Road would be getting a bitumen seal.

He said the seal would be six to eight metres wide and he hoped the job would be completed by the end of July, weather permitting.

Cr Jones – who chairs the Roads portfolio – said he would be inspecting the site on Wednesday afternoon to assess progress.
