Three South Burnett nominations are among the Darling Downs South West regional finalists in the 2021 Queensland Training Awards announced on Monday.

  • The Murgon Florist, at Shop 1, 131 Lamb Street, is a finalist in the Small Employer Of The Year category.
  • South Burnett Regional Council’s Georgia Hansen, who is studying a Certificate III in Business Administration through Ballistic Training Solutions, is a finalist in the Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year category.
  • SkillCentred Queensland’s Cherbourg Community Initiatives program is a finalist in the Community Training Initiative of the Year category.

There are a total of 33 finalists in the Darling Downs South West region, competing in 11 categories.

“It’s been a tough 18 months for businesses, trainers and employees who have had to adjust to different ways of working due to COVID-19,” Training and Skills Development Minister Di Farmer said.

“It’s extremely important to recognise the individuals and organisations that put training and development at the heart of what they do.”

The annual Queensland Training Awards have been celebrating achievements for 60 years.

The Darling Downs South West region winners will be announced online later this month.

The State winners – selected from seven regions – will be announced at a gala dinner in September.
