Fernvale has been added to the list of south-east Queensland towns and suburbs in fire ant biosecurity Zone 2.
From June 7, there will be changes in the way materials – including soil, quarry materials, mulch, hay, manure, turf and potted plants – can be moved within and from the Fernvale area.
The changes to Zone 2 aim to protect suburbs close to known infestations.
Nine other towns or suburbs have also been added to Zone 2 while 20 have been added to Zone 1.
