A 58-year-old Kingaroy man charged with rape and grievous bodily harm was refused bail when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police will allege a 28-year-old woman was attacked by the man on Friday evening after she allegedly went to his house to buy drugs.

The court was told the man allegedly raped the woman anally by inserting some sort of sharp implement into her body.

After allegedly being held for several hours, the woman managed to escape and was later found bleeding in the front garden of a house in First Avenue.

She was taken to Kingaroy Hospital and later airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with rape, deprivation of liberty, grievous bodily harm and four drug-related charges, including production.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair refused bail, citing an unacceptable risk to the community.

The man was remanded in custody to reappear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 16.
