South Burnett Regional Council will undergo an organisational restructure in one of the biggest shake-ups since it was formed in 2008.

The reorganisation aims to increase staff efficiency and improve customer service.

One important change will involve moving the former Social and Corporate Performance branch – responsible for administering Council’s community grants programs, social media and communications – to the Community Department.

The Records Management branch will be renamed and reassigned to Council’s Governance section.

A third change involves renaming the Customer Contact section to Customer Service to better reflect Council’s renewed focus on service delivery.

The changes were announced by Mayor Brett Otto earlier this month.

He said the changes would provide a “better fit” for efficient delivery of services and had come about after extensive internal consultation.

The realignment will require some changes to staff position titles.

The new structure was passed unanimously at the Council’s March General Meeting.
