A 79-year-old former Queensland MP is facing multiple charges of indecent treatment of teenage girls.

The offences were allegedly committed between December 31, 1974 and January 1, 1977, in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Roma, before the man was elected to State Parliament.

He was formerly a member of the Citizens Electoral Council before joining the National Party.

The man is expected to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday.

UPDATE March 29: The matter was transferred to Brisbane Magistrates Court for mention on April 7.

UPDATE April 7: The matter will be mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 4.
