RU OK? This is a message with extra resonance for Cherbourg families who have lost so many loved ones …

The importance of the question, and knowledge about the supports that are available, are so important that a little thing like rain couldn’t stop an important RU OK event happening in the town on Tuesday.

The march which had been planned was transformed into a get-together in the Sports Complex.

Local school students listened to guest speakers from Cherbourg Council, police and local agencies sharing a positive message.

Loved ones who had died were also remembered.

Cherbourg resident Bronwyn Murray emphasised there was no shame in asking for help … “we all get sad from time to time, we all stress out from time to time”.

And then a mini-march DID occur, with adults and children wearing the bright yellow RU OK shirts hitting the streets.
