Murgon’s 2021 Easter SpEGGtacular has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The decision was announced at a recent meeting of the Murgon Business and Development Association.

The group said COVID-19 restrictions on large outdoor events made it impossible to hold the event this year.

Instead, they will request an extension to funding acquittal dates so the event can be rescheduled to Easter 2022.

The SpEGGtacular was introduced in 2019 as a replacement for Murgon’s 25-year-old Christmas Fair.

Between 2015 and 2018, the Christmas Fair had to be either cut short or cancelled due to bad weather.

This led to losses and a decision to swap to an Easter celebration in 2019 instead.

The first SpEGGtacular ran successfully that year, but has not run since due to the pandemic.
