A driver was trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle after a head-on collision on the D’Aguilar Highway near Nanango on Thursday afternoon.

The two sedans collided just west of the Bushnells Road intersection just after noon, with both vehicles sustaining major damage.

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to free the woman.

A QAS spokesperson said the patient was transported to Kingaroy Hospital in a serious condition with abdominal injuries.

Two other people were taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.

The D’Aguilar Highway was blocked while emergency services attended the scene, with traffic diverted via Parsons, Nanango-Brooklands and Bushnells roads.

A man was flown to hospital on Wednesday night after he was struck by earthmoving equipment at a private address near Proston.

A QAS spokesperson said the man, aged in his 60s, suffered a suspected spinal injury after he was hit by the excavator.

Paramedics were called about 9:05pm.

The man was transported to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition before being airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
