Work on a new footpath in Markwell Street, Kingaroy, will begin in mid-January.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said the project – to extend from William Street to Aldi – should take about one week.

Works have been funded through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme and Council’s 2020-21 Capital Upgrade Works Program.

Contractors will be doing line marking on South Burnett roads from January 11. 

In order to provide a safe work environment, the work areas will be controlled by signs or with traffic controllers.

The work should take two weeks.

From mid-January, contractors will be doing upgrades to a number of State-controlled roads in the South Burnett.

These include a heavy grade on the unsealed section of Memerambi-Gordonbrook Road and grading of the shoulders along the sealed section; and a shoulder grade of Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road.

The works are expected to take three to four weeks.

Council has advised that the upgrade of the Wheatland’s State School setdown and parking areas, adjacent to Byee Road, has begun.

The project is expected to be finished by January 27.

The sealed carpark will be extended and a bus turning zone, setdown area and footpath created.
