Two South Burnett events – both forced to cancel this year due to COVID-19 – have received funding under the latest round of the State Government’s Queensland Destination Events Program.
The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival (May 29-30) and Kingaroy BaconFest (August 20-22) have both received support under Round 16 of the program.
A total of 23 events across the State were supported in the funding round, receiving a total of $546,800.
Destination event funding is single-year funding for developing events seeking growth, with events eligible to apply for between $10,000-$25,000.
“Chief Baconeer” Kristy Board announced on Monday that BaconFest had received $21,000.
“The funding will be used to assist with marketing costs and strategic plan development,” she said.
Applications for Round 18 of the program will close on February 3.
