Kingaroy Library has been forced to close after sustaining water damage in the recent heavy rain.
A Council spokesperson said the library building had been closed for repairs and a clean-up.
“Given the current risk, and to ensure public and staff safety, we have had to close the Kingaroy Library,” Mayor Brett Otto said.
“The decision to close was not taken lightly, as we know this will cause inconvenience for those who were planning to visit the library over coming weeks.”
The after-hours return chute at the Kingaroy Library will remain open for customers to drop their library items in while the building is closed.
The free take-home Christmas craft packs – which had been available at the library – can be collected from the Kingaroy Customer Service Centre.
How long the library will remain closed is not known until an assessment has been made of the necessary repairs and clean-up.
Customers can still visit Nanango, Blackbutt, Wondai, Proston or Murgon libraries.
