A Kingaroy resident has been identified as one of the two men who drowned while attempting to save a young boy at Teerwah Beach, near Noosa, on Sunday.

The 37-year-old, accompanied by a 37-year-old friend from Dalby, rushed into the sea in a bid to save three boys who began struggling in the water.

Two of the boys made it to shore safely but the third and the two men were caught in a strong rip.

Other beachgoers rushed to assist the trio.

The nine-year-old was treated on the beach by paramedics before being flown to hospital by the QGAir helicopter in a stable condition.

He was later discharged.

Tragically, the two men could not be revived.

The Dalby resident worked at SunPork’s Tong Park farm at Warra.

The deaths have rocked the tight-knit Filipino-Australian community in the South Burnett.
