A man has been charged after a string of shop windows were smashed in Lamb Street, Murgon, late on Sunday night.

Police will allege a 32-year-old Cherbourg man used a piece of metal from a road sign to damage the windows of eight shops.

The man has been charged with eight counts of wilful damage and was due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday.

Murgon Business and Development Association president Mark Smith said the incident was disappointing as there had been an incredible reduction in crime in the area.

“I feel our communities are working very well together and I feel very sorry for all the other residents who are embarrassed by just one person’s actions,” he said.
