Powerlink has advised that is undertaking routine low-flying helicopter inspections of power transmission lines in the South Burnett and Somerset areas.

During October and November, weather permitting, specialist crews will be carrying out inspections in the Benarkin North, Taromeo, South Nanango, Maidenwell and Yarraman areas.

They will also be inspecting lines around Linville, Harlin, Moore, Crossdale, Kinnoul, Wivenhoe Pocket and Somerset Dam.

“During the aerial inspections, the helicopter pilot will seek to maintain the maximum distance practically possible from houses, livestock and crops,” a spokesperson said.

“Local residents may see the helicopter moving relatively quickly and at a low level along the transmission lines, and in some instances, it may need to pause to enable closer inspection of the lines.

“These inspections form part of our regular maintenance program to protect the safety of the community and ensure the safe and reliable operation of our assets.”

Powerlink has encouraged encouraging landholders with an easement on or near their property to register their contact details with them to receive more information about upcoming patrols in their area.
