Cherbourg residents will be marking Mental Health Week with a special “community healing event” on Wednesday.

The aim of the day, which is being hosted by Cherbourg Radio, is to encourage local residents to get together to support each other after what has been a very stressful and tragic year for the community.

It will be held at the Cherbourg Sports Centre from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

There will be performances by the Wakka Wakka dancers, Murgon High School’s “Mob Choir”, stalls, arts and crafts, giveaways and opportunities to have a good yarn with friends and family.

“It’s been a tough year but this day is all about community coming together for the good of mental health and community health and healing,” Michael Monk, from Cherbourg Radio, said.

“I give thanks to everyone offering support and encouraging words, who have taken action,  and to everyone who has expressed hope for better times ahead.”
