Cherbourg Council is one of 17 councils across Queensland that will receive State Government funding to help “disaster-proof” the community.

The Council will receive $31,352 in resilience funding to provide an emergency power supply for the Cherbourg Council Chambers which serves as the town’s Disaster Control Centre.

Funding will be administered by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said the State Government was investing in the infrastructure needed to protect communities and create jobs.

“Every community project we’re funding is contributing towards making Queensland the most disaster-resilient State in Australia,” Mr Dick said.
