Fortunately no one was at home when fire gutted a unit in Burnett Street, Nanango, on Tuesday morning.
Police and firefighters were called just after 9:50am after reports of smoke billowing from the front unit in the complex, just down from Church Street.
A QFES spokesperson said part of the ceiling space was alight when the first of four units arrived.
Fire crews from Yarraman and Kingaroy – as well as QAS paramedics on standby – also attended the incident.
Firefighters wore breathing equipment as they tackled the flames.
By 10:40am, the fire was out and crews were checking for any remaining hot spots.
Smoke from the fire affected other units in the building and Ergon Energy turned off power to the complex.
The occupant of the unit was believed to have been at work when the fire began.
