South Burnett Saints’ women were narrowly defeated in a low-scoring game against Goondiwindi played at Dalby at the weekend.

At the end of the first quarter, the teams were locked at one goal apiece but the Hawks drew ahead before halftime and maintained their small advantage for the rest of the game.

The final score was Goondiwindi Hawks 3.5-23 to South Burnett 2.3-15.

The Saints’ goals were kicked by Rosie Pyke and Marika Burrows.

The women will be in action next weekend against Toowoomba at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy in the second last round of the shortened 10-round competition.

The Saints’ men had a bye this weekend.

Next Saturday they will also take on Toowoomba at Lyle Vidler Oval.
