One New Case Overnight

Queensland has recorded one new confirmed case of COVID-19 since Sunday – a close associate of a previous case linked to the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol.

This brings the State’s total number of active cases to 18, including the 10 cases linked to the Detention Centre.

Late on Sunday, Queensland Health released a revised list of locations (see below) related to the Wacol cluster.

Queensland Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young again urged anyone with any symptoms to get tested as soon as possible.

She also said people in the Greater Brisbane Area should now consider wearing masks if they could not safely socially distance – but she was not going to make it compulsory.

“I’m not going to mandate it because I don’t believe we have broad scale community transfer,” Dr Young said.

However, she recommended people carry masks with them.

A total of 6300 tests were carried out on Sunday but authorities want this figure to rise substantially.
