The couple arrested in Nanango on August 4 after allegedly lying on their Queensland border declarations were in town to “house sit”, it has been revealed.
Lawrence Gordon Petersen, 63, and Edith van Dommelen, 68, are from Perth but spend time travelling to “pet sit” and “house sit” interstate.
They were due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Police will allege they crossed the border at Goondiwindi after travelling from Victoria and through NSW.
They then allegedly stayed for a short time in Toowoomba before heading to Nanango, Brisbane and back to Nanango.
UPDATE: The couple, who are on bail, will reappear in court on September 15.
