Police are investigating two break-and-enters which occurred at Kingaroy businesses in the early hours of Monday morning.

The two break-ins – at Dollars and Sense in Avoca Street and Jamaica Blue in Kingaroy Shoppingworld – are believed to be related.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney said thieves broke into Dollars and Sense at 1:25am, triggering an intruder alarm.

Despite the alarm, they managed to steal a floor safe.

This was found later on Monday morning open and dumped behind the Pioneer Lodge Motel.

The second break-in occurred at Jamaica Blue.

Thieves forced the back door of the cafe and then rifled through the counter and cupboards before stealing a cash register.

Snr Sgt Tierney said the cash register was later found dumped behind a doctor’s surgery in Markwell Street.
