Two 14-year-old Murgon boys have been charged after two vehicles, a shotgun and ammunition were allegedly stolen at the weekend.

Police began investigating after a Holden ute was taken from an address in Murgon and crashed on Saturday night, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

The owner of the ute reported to police his vehicle has been stolen from his address after his car keys were taken by an unknown person between 4:30pm on July 11 and 5:00am on July 12.

Police discovered the crashed ute on Crownthorpe Road at Tablelands.

They were then notified by occupants of a neighbouring house that they, too, had a vehicle stolen, along with a shotgun and ammunition.

Murgon detectives conducted inquiries and allegedly located the missing shotgun and ammunition at an address in Murgon.

As a result of these investigations, police have charged two 14-year-old Murgon boys with offences including break and enter, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of weapons.
