Anglers will be flocking back to the South Burnett for the “Festival of the Dams” in August

July 10, 2020

Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen dams will reopen for overnight guests from August 1, just in time for the South Burnett Regional Council-sponsored Festival of the Dams.

Due to COVID-19 requirements, all accommodation – including unpowered sites – at the Lake Boondooma Caravan & Recreation Park and Yallakool Caravan Park must be pre-booked.

All guests will have to complete a guest declaration and pre-check-in form.

Bookings will be open from July 20 and can be made online or by phone:

  • www.lakeboondooma.com.au – (07) 4168-9694
  • www.yallakoolpark.com.au – (07) 4168-4746

South Burnett mayor Brett Otto said the reopenings were great news.

“Our parks will soon be open, and you will soon be able to book your next stay with us. The re-openings have been highly anticipated by locals and visitors to the region,” he said.

“In conjunction with the re-opening of our caravan and recreation parks at the dams, Council will once again be hosting the annual Festival of the Dams fishing competition run by Fishing Freshwater Australia on August 15-16.

“Teams will be participating from across Queensland and locals are invited to participate or come to watch the freshwater fishing action.
