A 40-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with going armed in public to cause fear after an incident involving a gel blaster near Memorial Park in Kingaroy on Tuesday afternoon.

After receiving numerous calls from the public, police rushed to William Street just after 2:00pm after reports a man had a firearm.

Photographs published on social media showed a black handgun pointing out the driver’s window of a blue Commodore.

Police will allege the man pointed the gel blaster towards vehicles and fired it as they drove past.

He then allegedly got out of the vehicle, walked around and fired the gel blaster again before getting back into the car.

Police seized a gel blaster at the scene and took a man into custody.

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 3.
