Applications for Toowoomba Regional Council’s next round of community grants opened on Wednesday.

Cr James O’Shea said community and not-for-profit groups were invited to apply for funding to assist their projects or events.

Applications must be lodged by August 1.

The current funding program covers applications for the following categories: Sport and Recreation, Events, Community, Community Economic Development, Environment, Cultural and Arts and Sports Tourism.

Mayor Paul Antonio said Community Economic Development Grants would be capped at $5000 for each application, with a yearly limit of two grants per applicant.

“Council is determined to support our Chambers of Commerce, Progress Associations and other not-for-profit groups who meet the selection criteria for the economic grants,” Mayor Antonio said.

“Residents can call 13-18-72 to book a consultation with relevant staff to arrange for help with tailoring grant proposals,” Cr O’Shea said.
