There’s a new face on the streets of Nanango with First Year Constable Ben Large joining the ranks of the local police.
Ben was one of 86 recruits who officially graduated from the Oxley Police Academy last week.
The new constables have been despatched to police stations across Queensland.
Ben, who graduated from uni with a Bachelor of Science, chose Nanango.
Senior Constable Peter Coe was showing Ben the ropes on Thursday.
He said it was the first time a First Year Constable had been stationed at Nanango.
Ben will spend his first eight weeks at the station under the guidance of an education and training officer.
He will then spend the rest of the year doing general duties under supervision.
Ben said he was definitely looking forward to his new role.
He has spent 10 years working in security – which has some crossover with his new job – but is looking forward to general policing which will include a whole gamut of experiences.
