May 21, 2020

Murgon Men’s Shed and Graham House will be sharing $7500 in funding under the Federal Government’s Volunteers Grants Program.

Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said Graham House Community Centre will receive $4000 to cover fuel and transport costs.

Murgon Men’s Shed will receive $3500 for craft materials, fuel and transport costs.

“This week marks National Volunteers Week, and I am glad to be able give back to our volunteers with this funding from the Coalition Government so they can continue their work and build a stronger, safer South Burnett,” Mr O’Brien said.

“South Burnett communities have been significantly affected by the prolonged drought; the bushfires late last year, and now the challenges posed by COVID-19, and volunteers are there at each step of the way to lend a helping hand.

“Graham House Community Centre has been a pillar of strength and support for the community for many years.

“Murgon Men’s Shed is a fantastic community hub that not only supports social inclusion but also provides assistance to other local organisations.

“I thank all volunteers everywhere for the work they do and congratulate these organisations for the difference they continue to make to Murgon and the South Burnett.”
