Police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries into an armed robbery in Gympie last Sunday.

Just before midnight on April 26, a man produced a firearm and stole a vehicle on Everson Road.

Police have identified a person of interest who may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone who knows where Luke Watts, 35, may be or has seen a white Holden Commodore with registration plates 431-ZOW is asked to contact police.

Members of the public are urged not to approach him but to contact police immediately on Triple Zero (000).

UPDATE: Police have charged a man in relation to an armed robbery in Gympie last Sunday (April 26).

At 1:30pm on Saturday, detectives attended a commercial property on Boat Harbour Drive, Hervey Bay, where they located a man and took him into custody without incident.

A 35-year-old Gympie man has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery and serious assault on a police officer, and one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession dangerous drugs, possession drug utensils, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, enter premises and commit indictable offence and going armed to cause fear.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on May 5.
