Challenger Scott “Hook” Henschen has triumphed in the recount to overhaul sitting South Burnett Regional councillor Ros Heit in Division 6.
The nailbiting result of the recent Local Government election was officially declared by the Electoral Commission of Queensland on Monday afternoon.
Cr Heit, who was originally elected at a by-election in 2013 by three votes but secured the Division by a comfortable margin at the 2016 poll, had been ahead by 12 votes at the close of counting.
southburnett.com.au understands a recount, requested by Mr Henschen, located five votes which had been misallocated, reversing the 2020 result.
The official margin, declared at 2:25pm, was Heit (1518) Henschen (1522) giving the Ironpot resident the victory by four votes.
There were 88 informal votes.
