COVID-19 forced the postponement of their Camp Oven Under The Stars night, but it couldn’t stop the Kingaroy Men’s Shed from officially opening their new toilet block on Saturday afternoon.
South Burnett Regional Council CEO Mark Pitt was invited to do the deed, as Council had helped make the project a reality.
It was jokingly suggested he should cut a roll of toilet paper instead of a ribbon … but they’re too valuable at the moment!
The toilet block was built with a $35,000 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Kingaroy Men’s Shed president Chris Price also thanked the local plumbers and builders whose generosity had helped cover the cost of the project.
The toilet block consists of three unisex stalls, including a disability access unit and another fitted with hand-rails.
The group’s next projects include the construction of a garage building for the use of woodturners “when funds become available”.
There are also long-term plans to build another large shed on the Kingaroy Airport site, opposite the historic World War II motor pool which is the group’s main building.
