Police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash which occurred in the Brisbane Valley on Tuesday morning.

Preliminary information indicates a 57-year-old woman from Wanora was travelling east along Glamorgan Vale Road about 10:15am when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree.

Bystanders removed the woman from the vehicle and attempted to render first aid.

However, she died at the scene.

The vehicle burst into flames after the crash.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the vehicle was searched to make sure there were no other occupants.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Emergency services were called after reports a vehicle was on fire on the D’Aguilar Highway near Blackbutt just after 3:30am on Tuesday.

A QAS spokesperson said no patients required assessment at the scene.
