The annual show season is just around the corner … and Cooyar has kicked it off again with a special High Tea to select its showgirls.
The local show society hosted the afternoon event last Saturday in Cooyar Memorial Hall.
Guests had the chance to graze tables laden with tasty goodies as well as browse several pop-up fashion stalls set up in the hall.
Judges Sebastian Pyers, from Crows Nest; 2018 Crows Nest Showgirl Tayla Ryan and long-time Cooyar Show supporter Lynette Munt, from Toowoomba, interviewed the entrants in the Miss Showgirl and Miss Teen Showgirl competitions.
They also cast an eye over the eager entrants in the Miss Junior Princess competition for girls aged 11 and under.
The winners were then sashed on stage:
- 2020 Miss Showgirl is Brooke Barron, from Cooyar, who has just been accepted into a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Southern Queensland
- 2020 Miss Teen Showgirl is Year 8 Nanango State High School student Holly Barron, from Cooyar
- 2020 Miss Junior Princess is Ella Kuhl, 6, from Rosalie Plains

The 71st annual Cooyar Show will be held on Saturday, February 22.
The associated Cooyar Show Campdraft, with nearly $5000 in cash prizes, will run from 6:00am on both February 21-22.
