Emeritus Professor Ken Donald AO will be the special guest “Australia Day Ambassador” at this year’s South Burnett Australia Day celebrations.

Prof Donald currently is professor at the School of Medicine, Griffith University, but his name will also ring a bell with older sports fans.

He represented Australia in rugby union from 1957 to 1959 before retiring to pursue medical studies. He also managed the Wallabies from 1978 to 1980.

Prof Donald has had a long career in medicine and medical education.

He has published extensively as an academic and has held senior positions including Head of the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland, Director of Pathology at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Deputy Director-General of Queensland Health.

Prof Donald said he was looking forward to joining the Australia Day celebrations in the South Burnett.

South Burnett Regional Council CEO Mark Pitt said that having Prof Donald attend would make the South Burnett’s celebrations “more special”.
