Residents have been invited to attend the official opening of the refurbished Nanango Library and Council building on Thursday (January 23).
The $2 million upgrade of the former Shire Chambers, on the corner of Henry and Drayton streets, includes new electrical wiring, air conditioning, floor coverings, roofing and gutters and the replacement of the damaged ceiling.
A new meeting room has been created in the library which can be used for study and research.
There are also areas in the library for children’s reading, public computers, and room for children’s art and craft activities during school holidays.
A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said the upgrades would extend the useful life of the building for at least another 30 years and will provide seating for up to 70 staff.
The morning will also include the official opening (at 10:00am) of Green Family Place (near Alexander Lane).
This will be followed by morning tea at the refurbished Council Customer Service Centre from 10:15am, and the official opening at 10:30am.
At 10:45am, residents will be invited to walk through the the new Customer Service Centre and Library.
