Work has begun on planning next year’s celebrations to mark 100 hundred years of ambulance services in Kingaroy.

A planning committee was set up at the Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) meeting held at the Kingaroy station on Tuesday evening.

The centenary will be marked on Saturday, February 29.

LAC president John Box said initial ideas included an open day at the station with displays of memorabilia.

Former ambulance officers and people connected to the Kingaroy Ambulance Station would be invited to return for the day.

The LAC meeting was also an opportunity to welcome new Kingaroy officer-in-charge Mei-Lin Dean, who has transferred to Kingaroy after serving at Murgon.

Mei-Lin, who is the first woman to be appointed OIC in Kingaroy, took over from former OIC Travis Cramb on November 11.

Travis has been appointed Operations Supervisor at the Darling Downs Local Ambulance Service Network, based in Toowoomba.
