The South Burnett’s annual Christmas Lights Competition will have a new prize this year: a Santa Claus Lane perpetual award.

As an incentive for neighbours to work together and demonstrate their Christmas spirit, the Council will be presenting the inaugural CEO’s Santa Claus Lane Award to the street that best embodies Christmas and co-operation.

The winning street will receive a permanent ‘Santa Claus Lane’ street sign.

“This is a great way for residents to demonstrate their community spirit by working with their family, friends and neighbours to provide some Christmas cheer for other community members,” Council CEO Mark Pitt said.

“In addition, the community will be able to recognise this festive spirit throughout the year.

“The Santa Claus Lane street sign will be a perpetual award to continue each Christmas season and recognise a winning street’s participation in the Christmas Lights display.”

To enter the competition and have your house marked on the annual Christmas Lights map, complete a registration form online on Council’s website or in person at any Council Customer Service Centre.

Registrations close at 4:30pm on Friday, November 29.

“Judging for Santa Claus Lane will occur between 7:00pm and 10:00pm from Monday, December 2 to Monday, December 9, so please leave your Christmas lights on during this time,” Mr Pitt said.

NB. In recent years, trips and cash have been offered as Christmas Lights prizes, however the sponsorship that made this possible has lapsed.
