The damaged Mitsubishi Pajero parked on the side of the Bunya Highway just outside Kingaroy

A 17-year-old Kingaroy boy has suffered critical injuries in an incident on the Bunya Highway just north of the Kingaroy CBD on Saturday afternoon.

Early reports suggest the boy was walking on the highway near the Crumptons depot when he was struck by a Mitsubishi Pajero.

Emergency services were called at 12:13pm.

A QAS spokesperson said the pedestrian was transported to Kingaroy Hospital in a critical condition.

He suffered head, chest and leg injuries.

A medevac helicopter then transferred him to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Kingaroy Hospital in a stable condition.

The Police Forensic Crash unit has been called to the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
