A 60-year-old man died in a house fire on Monday night at Wivenhoe Hill, adjacent to Wivenhoe Dam.
Emergency services were called to the fire just after 10:00pm on Logan Inlet Road.
When the fire was extinguished, the body of the man was located inside the residence.
Forensic tests will be undertaken to confirm the identity but it is believed to be the body of a male resident who was at home at the time.
Paramedics treated a woman at the scene for smoke inhalation and she was transported to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene has been established as scientific officers determine the cause of the fire.
