Who doesn’t love a garage sale? The annual nationwide “Garage Sale Trail” which urges people to recycle their old and unwanted items – and make a bit of spare cash along the way – is on again this weekend.

The aim is to “put secondhand first” to minimise our impact on the planet.

South Burnett Regional Council is one of many councils across Australia which have signed up to promote the free event.

“This jam-packed weekend is great way to declutter, make some money and meet your neighbours,” a council spokesperson said.

“Sellers in 2018 made an average of $309 at their garage sale and made 46 new connections in their community.”

It has been estimated that the Garage Sale Trail weekend saves more than three million items from landfill every year.
