A Kingaroy man is contemplating early retirement after winning more than $2.8 million in Saturday night’s Gold Lotto.

He had one of the seven Division 1 winning entries nationally in Superdraw 3977, with each entry taking home $2,857,142.86.

“It was a bit of a shock to the system,” he told Golden Casket on Tuesday.

“I was at a Father’s Day barbecue on Sunday night and I thought to myself ‘I better check my Gold Lotto ticket from last night’.

“Then I jumped on to my online account and saw six red numbers.

“My wife and I checked it again and again and again and sure enough, it was right!

“It couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ve had a rough start to the year.

“This is will just make life so much easier.

“I’m going to retire soon, that’s for sure. I’ll be able to finally put my feet up and spend plenty more time with my kids.

“The house also needs a new fence and roof.

“And my wife really wants to go overseas, so you never know, maybe we’ll be doing that.”
