Police are investigating the theft of a Holden ute from a hotel car park in Haly Street, Kingaroy, on Wednesday night (August 28).

The vehicle was stolen at some time between 6:00pm and 8:00pm and located two days later.

It was found on its roof at 2:00pm on Friday on Wilsons Road at Gordonbrook.

A 28-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court to face several charges following a traffic crash in Frangipani Street, Kingaroy, on Thursday night.

Kingaroy police will allege a Holden ute struck a parked vehicle and crashed into a fence before driving off.

Police later located the vehicle and the driver.

He has been charged with drink-driving (0.084 BAC) and failing to remain at a crash scene.

Police on patrol in Jarrah Street, Kingaroy, last Monday (August 26) attempted to intercept this grey Holden Commodore at 4:50pm.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Dave Tierney, said the officers pulled in behind the vehicle and activated their emergency lights, but the Commodore sped away.

“Police discontinued the attempted intercept due to the driver’s manner of driving,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.

“Anyone who has information regarding the offence, or who can identify the driver or owner of the vehicle, is asked to contact police.”

Drugs

  • A 30-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 30 charged with two counts of possessing drug utensils and failing to dispose of a syringe after police searched a house in Fisher Street, Kingaroy, at 8:15am on August 28.
  • A 45-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 30 charged with possessing a dangerous drug (cannabis) and drug utensils after police searched a home in Belle Street, Kingaroy, at 9:15am on August 28.
  • A 26-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 16 charged with possessing a dangerous drug (cannabis) and drug utensils after police searched a home in Booth Street, Kingaroy, at 7:50pm on Friday, August 30.
  • Police allegedly found a 23-year-old Kingaroy man smoking drugs when they visited a house in Haly Street in relation to another matter at 6:00pm on Saturday. He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 16 charged with possessing a dangerous drug and drug utensils.
  • On Sunday morning, police visited a house in Edward Street in relation to another matter. When they arrived, they allegedly smelled burnt cannabis. A 25-year-old woman and a 24-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 30 to face charges of possessing dangerous drugs, restricted drugs, drug utensils and property used in the commission of a drug offence. They have also been charged with possession of a taser.

Property

  • Police are investigating the theft of a red Apollo mountain bike from outside a Kingaroy Street address between 5:30pm and 7:00pm on Saturday.
  • Thieves broke into a King Street, Kingaroy, address on Saturday. They gained entry through a rear door which was closed but not locked and stole a mobile phone before running off.

Traffic

At 9:10am last Monday (August 26) Kingaroy police attended the scene of a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Harris and Clark and Swendson roads in Kingaroy.

Police allege a white Volkswagen turned from Clark and Swendson Road on to Harris road and drifted on to the wrong side of the road, striking a Toyota utility that was stopped waiting to turn.

Speed was believed to be the cause of the incident. The driver of the VW, an 18-year-old Kingaroy woman, was issued a ticket for failing to keep left ($106 fine and two demerit points).

Police were patrolling outside a school in William Street, Kingaroy, on Friday at 3:15pm when they saw a Hyundai reverse out of the centre parking bay. 

Police intercepted the driver, a 31-year-old Kingaroy woman, for a roadside breath test.

She will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 28 charged with driving while over the no alcohol limit (0.027 BAC) and reversing from centre parking.

  • A 24-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 28 charged with drug-driving after police pulled over a Holden sedan in Alford Street, Kingaroy, at 1:55pm on August 28.
  • A 43-year-old Wooroolin man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 28 charged with drug-driving after police stopped a Holden ute in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, at 3:10pm on August 28.
  • A 60-year-old Kingaroy man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on November 4 charged with drug-driving after police police stopped a Holden ute in First Avenue, Kingaroy, at 1:25pm on Friday.

Kingaroy police responded to a variety of incidents between August 26 and September 1 including drug, traffic, and property-related offences. They also attended two calls related to domestic violence, issued 16 infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 215 roadside breath tests.
