A semi-trailer driver has been taken to Dalby Hospital with chest pain after a truck carting pigs crashed at Jimbour West on Monday morning.

A police spokesperson said a large number of pigs had been either killed or injured.

Several animals escaped when the vehicle overturned.

Western Downs council animal contractors were despatched to the scene to assist with the injured animals.

The semi-trailer, from Kingaroy, tipped on its side on Kents Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 7:45am.
